Charities Bill - the amendments and the supports - Dublin, Friday 30 January 2009

The Charities Bill has now passed through both Houses of the Oireachtas, with many amendments having being accepted in the Seanad in December. The latest indications are that the Dail will approve the amendments that were made in the Seanad sometime in the next few months - the Bill will then pass to the President to be signed into law and will be commenced in stages with the Minister indicating that full implementation will take up to two years.

You can download our latest update on the Bill here.

It is timely therefore that we reflect on the changes that have been made to the Bill, identify any issues that remain to be resolved and agree on the supports and services that will be required for charities to make the transition to working in a regulated environment.

With this in mind, I would like to invite you to a special workshop of The Wheel's Network of Interest on Charities Regulation to be held in the Carmelite Centre, Aungier Street Dublin at 09.30am on Friday 30th January 2009. Registration commences at 9:30am. The meeting will conclude at 12:30.
